(Springfield, IL) -- It looks like Mother Nature is sparing Illinois from tornadoes this year. State Climatologist Jim Angel says the state has only had 23-twisters this year, compared to the normal 40 that are usually seen by now. Fourteen of the twisters occurred on a warm day in February. Only seven tornadoes have touched down since March.
