Crops Continue To Show Progress In West Central Illinois

(Undated) -- Below normal temperatures in west central Illinois helped push along crop progress according to the weekly crop report. 94-percent of corn is silking, with 25-percent in the dough stage and 82-percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition. Illinois Crop Statistician Doug Hartwig says soybeans are also faring pretty well. 73-percent of oats have been harvested and the second cutting of alfalfa hay is now 92-percent complete. Average statewide topsoil moisture stands at 12-percent short, 82-percent adequate and six percent surplus.
