Pediatrician Doctor Kim Giuliano says the side-effects of medications can be significant. Doctor Giuliano says both gel and syrup local anesthetics are not safe for teething babies. She warns against putting teething rings in the freezer, saying the extreme cold can cause damage to their gums.
