Lawyer Wants Drug Charges Dropped In Twittergate (Peoria, IL) -- The man facing drug charges connected to the Peoria Mayor's fake Twitter account doesn't want the marijuana found in his home to be used as evidence against him. Attorneys for Jacob Elliot say the cops didn't quite understand the "false personation" law before they raided Elliot's home back in April. They were looking for the person who created a fake Twitter account and was sending out inappropriate messages on behalf of the Mayor. They got their man, but also they found a stash of pot that allegedly belonged to Elliot, who is going to trial in December. The man behind the Twitter account was never charged. Elliot's lawyer claims the case should be tossed out because the police weren't acting in good faith when they entered the home. A judge is still mulling that decision.
