Alcohol May Cause Irregular Heartbeats

(Undated) -- New research says alcohol can increase the risk of irregular heartbeats. Dr. Bruce Wilkoff treats atrial fibrillation. Swedish researchers found adults between 45 and 83 developed irregular heartbeats with moderate alcohol consumption. Moderate was defined as one to three drinks of wine or liquor a day. Atrial fibrillation can play a role in many medical problems, including blood clots and strokes.
