State Urges Illinoisans To Report Suspected Cases Of Elder Abuse
(Undated) -- The Illinois Department on Aging is urging families to be on the lookout, and report suspected cases of elder abuse. Elder abuse comes in many forms, including neglect, physical or sexual abuse and financial exploitation. Warning signs include untreated injuries, tense relationships with caregivers, unpaid bills or sudden changes in Banking and poor hygiene. Department on Aging spokesperson Kimberly Parkere says if you are worried about a senior, you should report it. The toll free number for that hotline is 1-866-800-1409. It's estimated one in five older adults fall victim to some form of abuse.
