Canton Woman Arrested On Drug Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing drug charges after being arrested over the weekend in Canton. Police say they observed a vehicle that was northbound on North 1st Avenue that did not have a working registration light on the vehicle. A traffic stop took place and officers identified the driver as 20-year old Hannah E. Walker. She was found to be in possession of a hitter pipe used to smoke cannabis. Police gave her a city ordinance citation for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She will have 14 days to pay a $500 fine or will have a September Fulton County Court date. She was also cited for not having a valid Illinois driver's license. She was given a notice to appear for not having a driver's license and released with an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Man Facing Underage Drinking Charge (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man was arrested over the weekend. Police say they responded to a complaint of a suspicious person at Big Rack's Restaurant. When the arrived at the scene, officers found three subjects in the parking lot early Sunday morning at just before 3:45 consuming alcohol. Officers identified one of the individuals as 20-year old Ronald Williamson. He was then given a city ordinance citation of unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Williamson will have 14 days to pay a fine or will have a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Woman Cited After Canton Police Receive Possible Disturbance Complaint (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing charges after Canton police were dispatched to a possible disturbance taking place in the 400 block of South 2nd Avenue last week. Police say upon arrival at the address on Friday afternoon at just after 5:15 they found 44-year old Kerrie A. Shaffer who was wanted on a Fulton County Warrant, failure to appear pay order for driving with a suspended driver's license. Shaffer was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where she was processed for the warrant. She posted a $200 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released. Shaffer was given an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. 12 Jurors Selected In Leuthold Trial (Peoria, IL) -- The twelve members that will hear the murder trial of Nathan Leuthold have been selected. Now all that needs to be completed before the actual trial starts is two alternate jurors will need to be selected. Leuthold is a former Baptist missionary who is accused of shooting his wife, Denise on Valentine's Day of 2013 at her parent's home in Peoria. Authorities say they believe the he staged a burglary after murdering his wife. If Leuthold is convicted of killing his wife, he could face a sentence of 20-years to life in jail.
