Feds Tell Legislative Panel To Slow Down On NRI Probe
(Springfield, IL) -- The Justice Department is asking state lawmakers to back off their plans to call several former insiders to testify about Governor Quinn's tainted anti-violence program. The Chicago "Sun-Times" reports lawmakers are being asked to stand down so they don't interfere with a federal investigation of the Neighborhood Recovery Initiative. An Auditor General's report found numerous flaws with the way some 55-million-dollars was granted to local groups to fight violence.
