Canton Man Facing Charges After Incident At Downtown Canton Tavern (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after being arrested last week in Canton after an incident at a downtown tavern. Canton police say they were dispatched to Jack's Bar located at 144 East Elm Street on Friday night at just after 11:15. Police say that 25-year old Joshua V. Decker was told to leave the bar earlier in the evening but returned to it at about 11:18 p.m. Decker was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on a charge of trespass to property. He was given a notice to appear and then released. Upon his release, Decker was given an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Traffic Stop Leads To Canton Woman’s Arrest (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman was arrested following a traffic stop that occurred over the weekend in Canton. Police say they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of 5th Avenue and East Elm Street Saturday morning at about 12:30. Authorities say there were three people inside of the vehicle at the time of the stop. Police say they spotted an open can of alcohol inside the vehicle. It was determined that the alcohol was a passengers inside of the vehicle who was identified as 30-year old Amber J. Brand. Brand was given a city ordinance citation for illegal transportation of alcohol. She was given a notice to appear and released at the scene. She has a pending August Fulton County Court Date in September if she doesn't pay her fine within 14 days. Canton Man Turns Self In For Active Warrant (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on warrant turned himself into authorities in Canton last week. Police say that 21-year old Lance M. Benca was wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant, unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor. He turned himself in on Thursday night of last week at about 9 p.m. at the Canton Police Department located at 2 North Main Street. Benca was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Teen Arrested In Connection With Monday Night Shooting In Peoria (Peoria, IL) -- A teen from Peoria has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this week. 18-year old Devonta Kemp has been arrested and is being held in connection with the shooting that occurred Monday night when a man was allegedly shot in the hip. The shooting occurred in the 700 block of West Russell. Kemp was arrested for aggravated battery as well as for not having a Firearms Owners Identification Card. Peoria County Circuit Court records indicated that Kemp is on probation currently for two felony cases that are from last year. One for possessing a stolen vehicle and the second is for burglary. Police say they do not know why the shooting took place. Peorian Pleads Guilty In Robbery From June Of 2013 (Peoria, IL) -- A Peorian who was arrested last year for a June of 2013 robbery was in Peoria County Circuit Court on Monday. 52-year old Robert B. Hines entered a guilty plea to robbery. Authorities say that the robbery occurred at the Walgreens located on East War Memorial Drive. Hines will be given credit for the year that he has already spent in jail. After entering the guilty plea, Hines was sentenced to ten years of prison time. Peoria police say they found a hat in the back seat of his car that matched the hat that the suspect was wearing on the surveillance video of the robbery. Three Teens Charged With Killing Homeless Man (Bloomington, IL) -- Three teens have been charged with murder in the death of a homeless man. Ronald Smith died July 3rd. Police say he was attacked on June 2nd by the teens. An autopsy showed that Smith died from blunt force trauma to his abdomen from the attack. The three teens were already in jail for robbery, mob action and aggravated battery in unrelated incidents.
