One Vehicle Accident Investigated Near Ipava

(Ipava, IL) -- Authorities in southern Fulton County investigated a single vehicle accident that took place over the weekend. Deputies say the one vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Fulton County 2 Highway and Wickert Road, south of Ipava Saturday morning at about 5:45. Deputies say that while they were enroute to the accident they found 20-year old James T. Dutton of Ipava, walking north of the accident scene. It was determined that Dutton had been the driver of a car that had been traveling eastbound on Wickert Road and had crashed into the east ditch of County 2 High at the intersection with Wickert Road. Dutton was not injured as a result of the accident. Deputies determined that he had been drinking. He was then arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI over .08 and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Dutton was released after posting a cash bond. He was given an August Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
