Motorcycle Accident Near Lewistown Investigated

(Lewistown, IL) -- A motorcycle accident over the weekend west of Lewistown resulted in the arrest of a Bushnell man. Fulton County Sheriff's deputies say they arrested 43-year old Christopher A. Reed after they found him as well as his motorcycle in a rural ditch. Deputies say they were on routine patrol when they located a truck along the road on Fulton County 14 Highway about a mile west of Lewistown at about 2:30 early Saturday morning. A further investigation revealed that the truck operator had been called to the scene by a man who had run his motorcycle into the ditch and was in need of assistance to remove the motorcycle from on top of him. An investigation found that the operator of the motorcycle had been drinking. Reed was not injured as a result of the accident. He was arrested and taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI over .08. He was released and given a Fulton County Court date in Lewistown for August.
