Illinois Ranks 15th for Long-Term Care of Older Residents
(Undated) -- Illinois is showing significant improvement in helping older residents live independently at home as they age, according to a new scorecard from A-A-R-P. The state ranks 15th in the nation when it comes to the long-term care needs of older residents and associate state director David Vinkler says that’s because Illinois does well funding home and community-based services. Vinkler says on the flip side, the state ranked low for the number of people in nursing homes with a low level of need, which he says shows the need for higher-quality services in the home. He says support should continue for programs that provide medication management, home modifications and that help family caregivers.
