Canton Woman Arrested After Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing charges after a traffic stop that occurred in Canton over the weekend. Canton police say they made the stop near the intersection of 1st Avenue and East Elm Street Saturday morning at just after midnight. Officers say the driver of the vehicle was identified as 20-year old Nicole R. Beard. She was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and officers also located a 12 pack of beer inside of the pickup truck. Beard was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and for possession of alcohol by a minor. The citations were city ordinance violations. She will have 14 days to pay a $200 fine. If she does not pay the fine, Beard will have a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Three People Arrested At Apartment Complex On North End Of Canton (Canton, IL) -- Three people were given city ordinance citations after Canton police were dispatched to the Country Club Estates Apartments. Police say the responded to a physical fight that was taking place in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Officers say the fight was between 23-year old Britany Frazier and 20-year old Kaleigh A. Porkorny. The investigation by police also revealed that Frazier also allegedly attempted to assault 24-year old Michael J. Papalardo. All three are from Canton. The investigation also found that Pokorny was also wanted on a 2011 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant, failure to appear pay order for consumption. Porkorny also told police that she had been punched in the face by Pappalardo. Pappalardo and Frazier were arrested on a city ordinance citation for disorderly conduct, as was Pokorny. Pappalardo and Frazier were given a notice to appear and released. Both will have 14 days to pay a fine. If they do not they will have a September Fulton County Court date. Pokorny was taken to the Canton Police Department for the warrant. She was unable to post bond and later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown and will have 14 days to pay a fine for the disorderly conduct charge. If she does not pay the fine she will have a September Fulton County Court date. Arrests Made In 2006 Homicide In Peoria (Peoria, IL) -- Three men are in custody after being arrested earlier this week. Authorities say that the arrests stem from a 2006 Peoria cold case homicide investigation where two women were shot on the night of March 15th in 2006. The shootings occurred in the 1300 block of North Ellis Street in the River City. As a result of the shooting, Robin Underwood died. On Tuesday, detectives from the Peoria Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit and the FBI Violent Crime Task Force arrested 34-year olds Allen Fitzpatrick and Anthony King and 31-year old Michael Johnson. The three were arrested for the murder of Underwood. Fitzpatrick, King and Johnson are all being held in the Peoria County Jail. The investigation into the matter is continuing. Closing Arguments In Peoria Trial Scheduled For Today (Peoria, IL) -- The trial of a Peoria man who is charged with having sex with a victim under 13 has been going on this week in Peoria County Circuit Court. 40-year old Demarco Comer was charged with five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse as well as burglary and criminal trespass. Closing arguments in the case are expected to begin this morning. The jury hearing the case will then deliberate on the matter before reaching a verdict.
