Quinn Cuts Capitol Renovation Money From State Budget
(Springfield, IL) -- Using his amendatory veto pen, Governor Quinn is slicing money from the state budget and ramping up a feud with his own party's leaders. Quinn cut 250-million-dollars from the budget that was intended for further renovations on the Capitol building, even though Senate President John Cullerton and House Speaker Michael Madigan had put language in the bill to prevent him from doing that. Quinn also yesterday directed to sell nine of the state's fleet of 21 planes -- seven from IDOT and two from the state police.
