SRC Ranked 8th In National Report

(Canton, IL) -- Spoon River College has been listed in a national report on community colleges that were doing an outstanding job in graduating students with an associate's degrees within three years or less and in helping students transfer to four-year universities. Among the 25 community colleges in Illinois that made the list, Spoon River came in at number eight. The report was published by CNN, who partnered with College Measures to compile success rates for each community college in the U.S., similar to how the U.S. News and World Report ranks four years schools Missy Wilkinson, Dean of Student Services at Spoon River College says that the transfer rates, along with the high GPAs that students maintain once they transfer, have been noted before, including by the four-year universities that students from SRC typically transfer to. Besides recognition at the state and national level regarding rates of completion and successful transfers, Wilkinson reiterated another reason that starting at a community college is a good idea is the cost value of community colleges.
