Illinois Ranked Fourth Most Corrupt State
(Undated) -- Illinois is being ranked as the fourth most corrupt state in the nation, according to a study conducted by Indiana University and the University of Hong Kong. Researchers used data from more than 25-thousand convictions of elected officials between the years of 1976 to 2008, combined with an analysis of state spending. According to the study, the most corrupt states tends to spend more money on things like construction and politician salaries and less money on education. The analysis also reveals that the corruption is killing the jobs climate in Illinois, where the unemployment rate is just below eight-percent.
