Illinois Prison's Computer System Upgrades This Sunday
(Springfield, IL) -- Illinois prisons will be closed for one day this weekend in order for upgrades to be made on an outdated computer system. The Illinois Department of Corrections will start the process of changing from its three-decade-old mainframe computer on Sunday. The two-million-dollar change can allow the agency to boost inmate health screenings and improve recordkeeping with county jails. The computer systems being upgraded include the system at the Illinois River Correctional Center in Canton.
