Supreme Court Ruling Could Help Curb Crime
(Washington, D.C.) -- A U.S. Supreme Court ruling could help curb violence in Illinois. In a five to four decision yesterday, the justices ruled that anyone who's buying a gun for someone else must provide that person's information, even if the person is legally allowed to own a gun. The justices say failing to provide the information minimizes the government's efforts to conduct proper background checks. City leaders in high crime areas like Chicago and East St. Louis say they're having a tough time keeping illegal guns off the street. Most are bought through straw purchases.
