New Option Coming For People With Type 1 Diabetes

(Undated) -- There's a new option coming for people with type 1 diabetes. Doctor Betul Hatipoglu says a new device called a bionic pancreas will be a new way to control blood sugar. A bionic pancreas monitors blood sugar levels and administers both insulin and glucagon, while an insulin pump only gives insulin. A study showed people using the bionic pancreas had fewer low blood sugar episodes compared to people using insulin pumps.
