Canton Man Facing Several Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing several charges after an incident that occurred in Canton over the weekend. Police say they were dispatched to a resident in the 400 block of South Avenue A twice Sunday night. The first time at 8:42 and the second time at 11:24 on reports of possible domestic problems. The first time police say 31-year old Edward L. Staley had agreed to leave the home but then he returned and attempted to gain entrance by taking out a window air conditioning unit and then breaking a window. Staley had left the residence before police arrived. The victim in the incident is a 34-year old Canton female. Staley was later found in the area of 1st Avenue and Vine Street where a traffic stop was conducted. It was determined that Staley had been drinking. Several field sobriety tests were conducted which he allegedly failed. He was taken to Graham Hospital where blood and urine samples were taken. He was then released and taken to the Canton Police Department and processed on charges that include DUI, DUI over .08, disorderly conduct, driving a motor vehicle without insurance and driving on right side of road. Police say that Staley's vehicle was towed from the scene. He posted his driver's license and a $100 cash bond as well as a $20 processing fee. Staley was then released and given a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Havana Man Facing Drug Related Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Havana man is facing drug related charges after being arrested earlier this week. Canton police say they stopped a male who was walking in the roadway near the intersection of Van Buren and Elm Streets Wednesday morning at just before 1:45. After identifying the male as 21-year old Nicholas A. Wages, officers found Wages to be in possession of a hitter pipe used to smoke pot. Wages was then arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. Wages was given a notice to appear and was then released with a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Traffic Stop Results In Canton Man’s Arrest (Canton, IL) -- A man from Canton has been charged with drug related charges after a traffic stop in Canton earlier this week. Canton police say they stopped the vehicle because two of its occupants were not wearing seat belts. One of the occupants was identified as 33-year old Robert D. Rilea. Rilea was found to be in possession of a hitter pipe used to smoke marijuana. He was charged with a city ordinance citation of possession of drug paraphernalia and was released after being given a notice to appear. Rilea will have 14 days to pay a $500 fine. If he does not he will have a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- A traffic stop in Canton earlier this week resulted in a Canton man being arrested. Police say they stopped the vehicle near the intersection of 1st Avenue and Myrtle Street Tuesday night at just past 9:30 when the vehicle was spotted not having its headlights on. After making the stop, the driver was identified as 20-year old Jacob B. Lingenfelter. An investigation found that Lingenfelter had a suspended driver's license. He was taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. Lingenfelter was given a notice to appear and was then released with a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. More Copper Thefts Taking Place In Peoria (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in Peoria are looking into more thefts of copper that have been taking place. Police say one took place last week on Friday night at the First Federated Church located on North Sheridan Road. The thieves allegedly took two central air conditioning units that were located outside of the building. Police say another took place earlier this week on MOnday on Southwest Adams Street. The thieves too parts out of one of five air conditioning units but is believed to have been spooked and left before taking parts from the other four units. Another one was reported to have taken place on West Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. Authorities say it’s unknown if the three incidents are related to each other but all three remain under investigation. Teacher Accused Of Video Taping Locker Room (Fairview Heights, IL) -- A math teacher and track coach from the Metro East is charged with recording videos of students. Timothy Going was charged yesterday after an investigation into someone shooting video of a girl's locker room at Fairfield Community High. That investigation also turned up evidence Going had recorded another adult with a member of the track team at a motel in Fairview Heights last November. Seven To Appear In Federal Court On Meth Charges (Quincy, IL) -- Seven people are expected to appear in federal court this week after they were arrested on meth-related charges. Two of the suspects are from Quincy and one is from Woodstock. If convicted they can serve 20 years in prison and or get fines of up to 250-thousand dollars.
