Marquette Heights Man’s Body Found At Canton’s Ingersoll Airport (Canton, IL) -- Authorities in Fulton County are investigating the discovery of a body at Ingersoll Airport early Monday morning. Canton police say they received a complaint in regard to a missing Marquette Heights man, 45-year old Steven H. Detrick at just after 2 yesterday morning. Before finding Detrick’s body, police had located his vehicle at the airport. It was also determined during the investigation that Detrick may be cable of harming himself. As a result, the Fulton County Sheriff’s K-9 was utilized as was the Illinois State Police Air operations. Detrick’s body was found several hundred feet from his vehicle by ISP air operations. The preliminary investigation of Fulton County Coroner Steve Hines indicates that Detricks death was the result of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Canton police were assisted by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police District 14, Illinois State Police Air Operation Springfield Unit, Canton Park Police and the Fulton County Coroner’s Office. The investigation into the matter is continuing. Canton Man Charged For Having Drugs (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing drug charges after police stopped him for carrying open alcohol. Canton police say they stopped a man who was identified as 49-year old Steven K. Decker at the intersection of Main and Elm Streets for carrying an open bottle of vodka on Friday night at 7:11. During their investigation, officers found that Decker was in possession of a small amount of pot. He was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams. He was not charged for having the open bottle of vodka, but police did take it from him. Decker was given a notice to appear and was released with a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Warrant Leads To Arrest Of Canton Woman (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman wanted on a valid warrant was arrested late last week in Canton. Police say they responded to an address in the 800 block of Old Locust Street in Canton Friday night at 7:11 for a domestic situation. During their investigation, police found that someone at the residence, 55-year old Vivian K. Angel was wanted on a 2011 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant failure to appear domestic battery. Angel was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed for the warrant. She posted a $300 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was then released. Angel was then given a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Peoria Woman Turns Self In To Canton Police (Canton, IL) -- A Peoria woman who was wanted on a warrant turned herself into Canton Police last week. Authorities in Canton say that 34-year old Talya L. Zolicoffer entered the Canton Police Department at about 1:30 Thursday afternoon. Zolicoffer was wanted on a 2006 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant. She posted a $300 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released. She was given a July Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Peoria Man Charged With Assaulting Police (Peoria, IL) -- A Peorian is facing charges for assaulting a police officer. Peoria Police say they arrested 55-year old James Stack Sunday afternoon at his residence in the 1500 block of Folkers Avenue after an incident that required officers to use a battering ram to gain access to the man’s home. Police say that Stack allegedly was a suspect in an assault case but fled on his bicycle. Stack allegedly pushed an officer. He then allegedly pushed a door closed on the officer's arm before he barricaded the door, keeping authorities away for three hours. He was then taken into custody. Stack has been charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated assault on police as well as assault. Toulon Grocery Store Destroyed By Flames (Toulon, IL) -- People who live in the town of Toulon are looking for other options after their only grocery store was destroyed by fire on Friday. Some are planning to get their food from nearby Kewanee and Wyoming after flames consumed the Super Value store. Crews are still investigating the fire.
