Juvenile Arrest Records Cleared

(Chicago, IL) -- Juveniles who commit non-violent crimes don't always realize that their criminal records will follow them into adulthood, but not anymore in Illinois. Governor Quinn penned his signature on a bill that will automatically clear a juvenile's record once he or she turns 18. But it only applies to those who have petty offenses that never result in an arrest or court procedures. That means juveniles who commit murder won't be eligible to have their slates cleared. The law takes effect on January 1st of next year.
