Rep Smith Claims He Was Set Up By Feds

(Chicago, IL) -- State Representative Derrick Smith says he was set up by "overzealous" feds when he accepted a seven-thousand-dollar bribe in exchange for helping a daycare get a grant. The Chicago Democrat's attorney says he was pressed by a campaign worker, who doubled as an FBI informant, to accept the bribe, even when he didn't want to. But an FBI special agent says they started investigating Smith after the campaign worker reported Smith might be involved in illegal activity. Smith is on trial in Chicago and faces up to ten years in prison, if he's convicted.
