Lawmakers Give Themselves A Pay Raise

(Springfield, IL) -- Lawmakers are giving themselves a pay raise next year. They'd previously been required to take one furlough day a month, but the latest budget doesn't call for that. That means they'll each get a pay increase of about three-thousand dollars a year. Republican Representative Dwight Kay had asked that they keep taking their mandatory days off since the state still has about five-billion dollars in unpaid bills, and since it will lose loads of money once the income tax rate rolls back in January.
