Chemo Medication Could Help Some Prostate Cancer Patients Live Longer
(Undated) -- An inexpensive chemotherapy drug could help men diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer live longer. Researchers say taking the medication in addition to getting androgen suppression treatment improved survival by 39 percent in men with advanced prostate cancer. Doctors first need to make sure those patients are healthy enough to handle the chemo drug. More than 240-thousand men in the U.S. are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year and nearly 30-thousand die from it.
