A Former GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Weighs In On State Budget
(Springfield, IL) -- Illinois already has the worst credit rating in the nation and Republicans say it's just going to get worse. Senator Kirk Dillard says the credit rating agencies won't take it lightly that the state plans to borrow more money in the latest budget. Senate President John Cullerton says if the state's credit rating takes another hit, it'll be on the Republicans' backs. He says they had a plan that could have prevented the need for borrowing - they wanted to keep the five-percent income tax rate in place. Republicans and many Democrats were adamantly against that plan. Because of that , the state will lose about one-point-six-billion-dollars when the rate rolls back in January.
