Peoria Man Enters Guilty Plea for Alleged Armed Violence (Peoria, IL) -- A Peorian who has already been convicted of second degree murder was in Peoria County Circuit Court on Tuesday for an unrelated case. 26-year old Dieuseul Brown entered a guilty plea yesterday to a charge of armed violence. As part of a plea bargain, charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of cocaine were both dismissed. He is scheduled to be sentenced for both cases next month. Sheley Trial Judge Denies Mistrial Request (Rock Island, IL) -- The judge in the murder trial of a suspected serial killer has denied a request for a mistrial. Defense attorneys for 34-year-old Nicholas Sheley claimed Judge Jeffrey O'Connor fell asleep during the trial Friday and at times appeared to be confused. Sheley is accused of beating four people to death in northwest Illinois. He's already been convicted of killing two men that same week in 2008 and is awaiting trial for two deaths in Missouri. Memorial Day Volunteers Recovering From Accident (Davenport, IA) -- Some Memorial Day volunteers are recovering after a mishap at a Davenport cemetery. The "Quad-City Times" reports a group of people putting up flags were hurt when the flatbed trailer they were on broke loose and careened across the cemetery before it smashed into a tree. No one was seriously injured.
