Education Funding System Overhaul
(Springfield, IL) -- State senators are moving forward with a plan to revamp the state's education funding system. They cleared a bill yesterday that would create a more equitable system, where they'd dish out money to school districts based on need. Republicans largely voted against the bill claiming it'll take away the foundation level, which guarantees that all schools get just over 61-hundred bucks for each of their students. Supporters say the idea is to bridge the gap between the "have and have-nots" but the deal won't likely come up for a vote in the House before session wraps up this weekend.
