High School ADs and Coaches Will Be Required To Receive Concussion Training
(Undated) -- A Bill is headed to the Governor's desk that will require concussion training for high school coaches in west central Illinois as well as the rest of the state. The measure requires the Illinois High School Association to put together a training program on the dangers of traumatic head injuries. Athletic Directors, head coaches and assistant coaches of all sports would have to take the free course every two years. State Legislator's say it's about getting everyone better educated on the topic. Student athletes would also have to watch a concussion awareness video each year. The House passed the measure back in April and the Senate has okayed it as well this week. It still must be signed into law by the Governor.
