(Springfield, IL) -- The House is speeding up the fracking process in Illinois. A committee cleared a deal yesterday that would take away the Department of Natural Resources' ability to set up rules for the fracking industry. It's not a very popular idea. Environmentalists say fracking will lead to natural disasters like earthquakes and contaminated drinking water, so they wanted the state to take its time and get strict rules in place. But seven state representatives approved the deal in committee and it's now headed for a vote in the full House.
