Income Tax Debate Rolls On
(Chicago, IL) -- The debate over extending the income tax rate may not be over yet. Governor Pat Quinn says he's open to negotiating a new rate, something less than the current five-percent, but higher than three-point-75, which is what it's supposed to be come January. Quinn says things like education and public safety will suffer if the state loses the revenue that comes with the current rate but lawmakers aren't willing to back the deal. They're back in session today and they have until Saturday to pass a budget.
