Warnings Being Given About Electric Shock Drowning
(Undated) -- As the Memorial Day Weekend approaches, safety experts warn about the dangers of electric shock drowning in lakes and rivers. Molly Hall with the Energy Education Council says electric shock drowning occurs when electricity from a dock or boat that's plugged into shore power enters the water. Because of the risk, she advises not swimming near docks or in marinas where this could occur. Also spreading the message is the Ritz family, who lost their 8-year old son Lucas to electric shock drowning while floating in an inner tube near a dock.
