Voters To Weigh In On Millionaires Tax
(Springfield, IL) -- Voters may be deciding whether millionaires should pay more in income taxes than other people in Illinois. House Speaker Michael Madigan wants to put the issue on the November ballot as a non-binding referendum. It aims to tax an extra three-percent on all income over one-million-bucks. If voters think it's a good idea, Madigan says lawmakers could use it as a stepping stone to amend the state's constitution.
