Red Light Cameras Under Scrutiny

(Ottawa, IL) -- Illinois' red light camera program is under scrutiny. The state's Supreme Court heard oral arguments yesterday on whether the city of Chicago overstepped its authority when its cameras went up back in 2003. Plaintiffs argue it puts drivers in high traffic areas at an unfair disadvantage because they're the only ones who can get busted by the cameras. But an attorney for the city of Chicago says the cameras are used in those areas to help police catch people who are breaking the law. The court will have a ruling sometime in the next several months.
