School Funding Bill Could Get Vote
(Springfield, IL) -- A plan to revamp the state's school funding method could be up for a vote this week. State Senator Andy Manar says he thinks there's enough support to get it through the Senate, without Republican support. The plan aims to create a more equal funding system that ensures poor school districts get more money from the state. Those in affluent communities could lose up to a-thousand-bucks per student. Officials at some of those schools say that might not be a problem for the first year or two, but it could ultimately mean a property tax hike to make up the difference.
