Canton Woman Charged After Disturbance At Downtown Canton Bar (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing charges after an incident that occurred at a downtown tavern last week. Canton police say they were dispatched to Jack's Bar located at 144 East Elm Street on Friday morning at just after midnight on the report of a disturbance. Officers say there were several people involved in the disturbance including two females and two males. The two males apparently had left the bar before police arrived. Officers met with the victim, a 36 year old Canton female and also talked to several witnesses. The police report indicated that a female suspect identified as 26-year old Sasha L. Negley allegedly pushed the victim against the back wall of the tavern. Witnesses confirmed to police that the incident was unprovoked. Negley was then arrested on a battery charge and taken to the Canton Police Department where she was processed. She posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released with a June Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. The incident remains under investigation. Police have been trying to locate the two males involved. Officers say that more arrests are expected. Canton Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- A traffic stop in Canton last week resulted in the arrest of a Canton man. Police say the stop was made at the intersection of Main and Spruce Streets. Officers observed a male exit the driver seat of the car and recognized the man as 30-year old Christopher A. Rojas. Police say that Rojas then got back into the car and started driving. Officers then conducted the traffic stop. Police confirmed it was Rojas and a registration check confirmed that Rojas did not have a valid driver's license. He was arrested and then released. Rojas was given a June Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Benson Teen Sentenced In Woodford County Court On Drug Charges (Eureka, IL) -- A teen from Benson was in Woodford County Circuit Court last week to be sentenced in connection with the death of student from Roanoke-Benson High School. 19-year old John Grafelman was sentenced to 23 years of prison time on Friday. Grafelman was convicted on charges of drug induced homicide and deliver of heroin. He will have to serve 75 percent of the sentence. Grafelman was also convicted on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the life of a child because the victim was under 18 years of age. Weekend Shooting In Peoria Investigated (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in Peoria are looking into a shooting that left a Peoria man hospitalized over the weekend. Police say that the shooting happened Saturday night at about 6:30 at the Woodlands Apartments located in Peoria. The man was taken to a Peoria hospital after being shot in the leg. Authorities say that the injuries are non-life threatening. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting incident.- Weekend Fire In Peoria Sends Two To The Hospital (Peoria, IL) -- A fire over the weekend in Peoria is being investigated. Authorities say that firefighters were dispatched to a home located on Proctor Street Saturday morning at about 9. Upon arrival, fire crews found that flames were coming from the exterior side of the second floor. As a result of the fire, two people, a 23-year old female and her infant son, were taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation. The two were later released. Authorities say that the fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the home. Just what caused the fire remains undetermined. Motorcyclist Killed On Side Of Road (Granite City, IL) -- A motorcyclist is dead after an apparent dispute over a woman. Travis Mayes was gunned down early yesterday morning in rural Granite City. Reports indicate he pulled over to the side of Nameoki Road because a car was following him. The car pulled up behind him and someone inside opened fire, hitting Mayes in the head. Family members tell KMOV-TV that Mayes and the shooter knew each other, and had an ongoing dispute over a female. The suspect is being held in the Madison County jail.
