House Passes 38-Billion-Dollar Spending Plan
(Springfield, IL) -- Illinois is planning to spend 38-billion dollars next year. There's only one problem with that; no one knows where the money will actually come from. Democrats say they're confident the state will get a new stream of revenue, whether it'll be from extending the income tax rate or passing gambling expansion. Republicans say Democrats are trying to force their hand by passing the spending plan first. They say the Dems are hoping they'll change their minds and vote in favor of the tax extension just to make sure the budget will be properly funded.
