Electric Supply Deals Short-Circuit Consumers

(Undated) -- The Citizens Utility Board is urging "buyers beware" when it comes to choosing a new electric supplier. With many current electricity supply deals expiring, consumers are being flooded with offers for alternatives to the traditional sources like ComEd or Ameren. CUB says it's hearing twice as many complaints from consumers about supply deals that don't turn out to be as advertised. CUB says many consumers fall prey to low introductory offers that are only guaranteed for a few months, then either shoot up or float with the market at a level higher than traditional sources.
