Eagle Scout Suspended For Wearing Gun T-Shirt
(Hinsdale, IL) -- An Illinois Eagle Scout is fighting to have a school suspension removed from his record. Chris Borg was sent home from Hinsdale Central High School for one day last week after he wore a T-shirt with the outline of an AK-47 on the back. School officials say it was a dress code violation and they gave him the option to change his shirt or turn it inside out, but Borg chose to be suspended instead. He says changing or turning the shirt inside out would've infringed on his right to free speech. Borg showed up at the school board meeting Monday night and defended his argument, pointing out that the school's mascot, which is a devil, holds a three-pronged spear, which is a weapon.
