Weekend Fire Under Investigation (Canton, IL) -- Firefighters in Canton were dispatched to a fire on East Maple Street over the weekend. Upon arrival in the 800 block of East Maple Street Saturday afternoon, firefighters found heavy fire was coming from the west side and the rear of the single family residence. Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly after making entry into the home on the first floor. They then went to the second floor of the structure to put out any remaining fire. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Just what caused the fire remains under investigation. Arrests Made In Car Burglaries (Canton, IL) -- Canton police have made two arrests in connection with several car burglaries that took place last week. Police say that the burglaries occurred in the 300 block of West Pine Street, the 300 block of West Chestnut Street and the 200 and 300 block of West Elm Street on Tuesday. The investigation into the burglaries resulted in the arrest of two male juveniles, a 16 year old and a 17 year old. The two teens were taken to the Canton Police Department where they were processed. Some of the property has been recovered, including some unclaimed items. The investigation into the burglaries is continuing and more arrested are expected. Man Arrested Twice In Two Days (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing multiple charges after he was arrested on back to back days. Canton police say they responded to an address in the 200 block of West Pine Street on the report of an unresponsive man on the back porch of that residence on Tuesday night at just after 11:30. Before police arrived at the scene though, the man had left the residence. The man later returned to the residence and was causing a disturbance. The man was identified as 41-year old Jessie O. Lowther. During their investigation, police located a metal hitter pipe on Lowther that is used to smoke pot. He was then arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed. He was given a notice to appear and released with a June Fulton County Court date. Meanwhile on the next day, Police were dispatched to the Circle K BP Gas Station located on South Main Street on Wednesday night at just after 8. An attendant at the gas station told police that a man that police identified as Lowther, had stuck two cans of fruit punch into his jeans pockets and then exited the store without paying for the items. He was then stopped and arrested by Canton police. Lowther was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed. He was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Girl Injured After Being Bitten By Dog (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after police were dispatched to Graham Hospital in regard to a 3-year old female that had been bitten by a family dog. The incident allegedly had occurred on Monday afternoon. The girl had been bitten on the forehead by a male Lab/Pit Bull mix. The girl was being taken to OSF-St. Francis Medical Center for further treatment. Police met with 32-year old Michael A. Fromm at an address in the 1400 block of East Chestnut Street. During their investigation of the incident, police found that the dog was not up to date on its inoculations. Fromm was cited for failure to inoculate and released with a notice to appear. Fromm has a June Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Missing Missouri Teen Located In Quincy (Quincy, IL) -- A missing Missouri teen has been found safe and sound in downtown Quincy. Clark County Sheriff's Police discovered 16-year-old Hailey Dawn Jones of Medill, Missouri on Thursday. She was last seen by her family on May 2.
