Peoria County Sheriff To Get Raise
(Peoria, IL) -- The top cop in Peoria County will be getting a raise in pay over the coming years. Earlier this week, the Peoria County Board approved a 2.5-percent raise for each of the next four years for the sheriff. Based on a state statute, the sheriff will also be receiving an additional several thousand dollars. State law requires that salaries be set of people running for office before they are in office for that term. Board members say that the raise was warranted because of the level of responsibility for the job. The Board voted 16 to one in favor of the raise.
