Business Must Pay Employees Over 12 Million Dollars

(Springfield, IL) -- The founder of the defunct Springfield-based THR & Associates will have to pay 12-point-two-million-dollars in back overtime wages to former workers after repeated no-shows to court proceedings and attempts to hide assets. Jeff Parson received the ruling on Wednesday from U.S. District Judge Richard Mills. The defendant also must pay 120-thousand-920 dollars in attorney's fees. This case involves a class action suit filed in 2012, claimed employees were given management titles to avoid federal requirements of time and a half pay for more than 40 hours a week. The company reportedly promised to pay salaries but treated workers like hourly employees exempt from overtime.
