State Nursing Homes Officials Want Tax Rate To Stay Put
(Springfield, IL) -- Nursing home leaders in Illinois are calling on lawmakers to keep the state's five percent income tax rate in place. Pat Comstock with the Healthcare Council of Illinois says letting the rate go down could put some facilities out of business. Providers say the residents won't have as many activities if the income tax rate rolls back to three-point-75 percent in January, like it's supposed to. Lawmakers need to take a vote in order to keep the rate from going down but Republicans won't support the deal and it seems Democratic support is also slim.
