Lawmakers To Allow Subpoenas For Quinn's Violence Program
(Springfield, IL) -- The Republican co-chairman of the Legislative Audit Commission has subpoena power to take a close look into Governor Quinn's troubled Neighborhood Recovery Initiative program. State Senator Jason Barickman of Bloomington said the commission has a statutory duty to get to the bottom of reports of mismanagement of the now-disbanded anti-violence program. Barickman's move comes in the wake of a state audit that found rampant mismanagement in how the money was distributed to local groups. The subpoena power gives the panel the authority to compel witnesses to testify about the program.
