Two Individuals Facing Drug Charges After Canton Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- Two people are facing drug charges after Canton police conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street over the weekend. Police say they conducted the stop in the 900 block of North Main when the vehicle was spotted without a front license plate Saturday morning at about 5:30. Police say there were four occupants in the vehicle at the time of the stop and they detected an odor of marijuana coming from it. One of the passengers was identified as 20-year old Jesse R. Peek of Canton, who was wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Felony Warrant for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, was arrested. The K-9 with the Fulton County Sheriff's Department was called in to assist and alerted on the vehicle. The four occupants then exited the vehicle. Another passenger in the vehicle, 20-year old Quentin A.R. Burkett was found to be in possession of under 2.5 grams of pot and was arrested. Some additional marijuana was found under a seat in a plastic bag containing 3.2 grams of cannabis. Peck was charged additional with possession of cannabis over 2.5 grams but under 10 grams. Burkett was charged with possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams. Both Burkett and Peek were taken to the Canton Police Department where they were processed on the charges. Burkett was given a notice to appear and released with a June Fulton County Court date. Peek was taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Traffic Stop Leads To Resisting Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing resisting charges after a traffic stop in Canton over the weekend. Police say they stopped the vehicle on Saturday morning at 1 in the 400 block of South 6th Avenue for having a loud exhaust. Police say that the driver, identified as 35-year old Jessica D. Price had stepped out of the vehicle after pulling into a private drive. The officer on the scene advised Price to get back into the vehicle. Price refused and was arrested and charged with resisting police. Authorities also detected an odor of alcohol coming from Price. Price was given several field sobriety tests which she allegedly failed. She was taken to the Canton Police Department where she was processed on the charges of resisting police and DUI. She was also cited for having a loud exhaust. Price posted her driver's license, a $100 cash bond and a $20 processing fee. Price was then released and given a June Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Woman Facing Drug Paraphernalia Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman was cited for a city ordinance violation after police were dispatched to Graham Hospital. Police say they went to the hospital Thursday night at just after 9:30 in regard to drug paraphernalia. The individual was identified as 46-year old Sherry A. Whiteman was found to be in possession of a glass hitter pipe used to smoke marijuana. Police cited Whiteman with a city ordinance violation of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was told by police that she would have to pay $500 by May 15th or she would have a Fulton County Court Date in Lewistown in June. Car/Pedestrian Accident In Pekin Injures Girl (Pekin, IL) -- An accident in Pekin on Monday left a child injured. The accident occurred at the intersection of 14th and Koch Streets. Authorities say that the child was waiting to cross 14th when a driver of a vehicle waved for the 10-year old girl to cross the street. A car that was northbound though struck the girl as she was crossing the street. She was taken to the hospital in Pekin to be treated for injuries suffered in the car/pedestrian accident. Child Hit By Truck In Peoria Critically Injured (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in Peoria say that a fifth grade student at Peoria's Lincoln School was struck by a truck Monday morning. The accident occurred on Northeast Monroe between Mary and Caroline Streets. CPR was done at the scene on the 11-year old boy before being taken to a Peoria hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident. Authorities say that the boy ran out between a bus and a car and was struck by the truck. Police in Peoria are investigating the accident. Bartonville Burglaries Suspect Reaches Plea Deal (Peoria, IL) -- One of the two men from Bartonville who were arrested last year following a string of burglaries in Bartonville was in court in Peoria on Monday. 19-year old Jordan Ogle Thompson entered a guilty plea in Peoria County Circuit Court yesterday to charges of residential burglary and burglary. Thompson had been facing several counts of burglary or residential burglary but reached a plea bargain with authorities in Peoria County. As part of the agreement, the prosecution agreed to not seek more than eight years of prison time. Thompson is due back in Peoria County Court in June to be sentenced. The second man charged in connection with the burglaries, 20-year old Kabba Carter is scheduled to be in Peoria County Circuit Court in mid-June.
