IEMA Urges Disaster Preparation For Pets.

(Undated) -- The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is urging families to make sure they include their pets in any disaster planning. While you put together a household emergency kit, IEMA spokesperson Patti Thompson reminds not to forget the furry members of your family. She recommends setting aside at least a three day supply of food and water for pets and extra supplies of any medications they need. Thompson says it's also a good idea to have a crate or carrier, in case you need to quickly evacuate.
