State Garnishes Millions In Tax Refunds

(Springfield, IL) -- State officials say they've confiscated more than 26-million-dollars from people who were taking advantage of the unemployment system. Employment Security Spokesman Greg Rivara says they intercepted the tax refunds from people who were working and collecting an unemployment check. It's the third year the state has been garnishing tax refunds from people who try to defraud the system. They've recovered more than 120-million-dollars during that time.
