Tornado Emergency Preparedness Should Take Place At Home And At Work
(Undated) -- With spring comes the threat of tornadoes and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency is urging you to make sure you are prepared both at home, and at work. IEMA Director Jonathon Monken says you never know when disaster will strike, so employers need to have a plan in place that should include a designated spot for workers and customers to gather if there is a tornado threat, such as a basement or interior room and signage marking it as such. To prepare at home, Monken says you should have a weather alert radio on hand, plus an emergency supply kit with batteries, flashlights and food and water for at least three days.
