Canton Man Appears In Peoria County Circuit Court In Connection With Glasford Bank Robbery (Peoria, IL) -- One of the two men who was arrested in connection with the bank robbery in Glasford last month was in court on Thursday. 24-year old Josh Wernsman of Canton was in Peoria County Circuit Court yesterday to answer the indictment. Wernsman has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of Theft. Wernsman along with 26-year old Kevin Angus, also of Canton, allegedly held up the Glasford State Bank on April 17th. Police say that Angus allegedly entered the bank with a knife and robbing it. Police did recover a shoebox that was full of money they believe came from the bank. Angus and Wernsman were then arrested. Angus was found dead last week in his cell. Wernsman is due back in Peoria County Circuit Court on May 8th and is being held in the Peoria County Jail on a $150,000 bond. Canton Man Arrested In Connection With Car Burglaries (Canton, IL) -- Police in Canton have arrested in man in connection with several car burglaries that occurred earlier this week. Police say they arrested 20-year old Marcus J. Sale Thursday morning at about 3:15 while he was riding a bicycle in the 600 block of North 2nd Avenue. Authorities say that Sale broke into two vehicles on North 2nd Avenue as well as one in the 400 block of North 3rd Avenue. Police say they have been receiving several complaints of car burglaries from North 2nd Avenue to 17th Avenue. Police say they are still investigating the reports and that it’s unclear if Sale was involved in all of them. Valid Warrant Leads To Canton Mans Arrest (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on a valid warrant was arrested earlier this week. Police say they arrested 37-year old Jason R. Dray Wednesday night at just before 6 in the 400 block of West Chestnut Street. Dray was wanted on a 2014 Woodford County Warrant for driving with a suspended license. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. Dray did post bond and was released. He has a June Woodford County Court date in Eureka. Pekin Teen Indicted In Rash Of Car Burglaries (Pekin, IL) -- A teen from Pekin arrested recently for a string of car burglaries, has been indicted by a Tazewell County Grand Jury. 18-year old Gabriel Thompson was indicted on Thursday by the grand jury. He was arrested by Pekin police two weeks ago in the 1200 block of Florence. The arrest occurred a day after police had warned residents about locking their cars. A second suspect in the car burglaries, Gage King of Peoria is also facing burglary in connection with the rash of car burglaries. Thompson is due back in Tazewell County Circuit Court on May 8th. University Of Chicago Under Investigation For Sex Abuse (Washington, DC) -- The University of Chicago is among 55 colleges and universities under a federal investigation into how officials handled sexual abuse complaints. The Federal Education Department today released the list of schools under a new policy of greater government transparency on sexual assault in higher education. The U of C's inclusion on the list reportedly stemmed from the complaint of a student about how the school handled her case of abuse at the hands of her partner. The list of schools under scrutiny includes Ivy League Schools, two in the Big Ten, Ohio State and Michigan, as well as Knox College in Galesburg.
