Cause Of Fatal Fire In March In Canton Undetermined
(Canton, IL) -- Fire investigators in Canton have ruled the cause of a fatal fire in March as undetermined. Investigators say that they narrowed down the area of the fire's origin to the living room in the residence, but lack of conclusive evidence in the area of origin has made it difficult to determine the specific cause of the fire. As originally reported, the Canton Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 161 North 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, fire crews knocked down the fire and conducted a search to locate two possible victims that were reported to be in the home at the time of the fire. Interior crews found Sherrilyn Wright unresponsive in a rear bedroom. The victim was removed and CPR was initiated by firefighters and police at the scene. Wright was transported to Graham Hospital's Emergency Room by Fulton County Emergency Medical Association where she was stabilized. She was then flown to a Springfield hospital for additional treatment. Wright later passed away from injuries that were suffered from the fire. The second occupanrt of the home was not at the residence at the time of the incident.
